any information regarding these systems. Note that we have just
received some docs from Madison Spring Company. |
| Vendors release
software |
A growing number of software
vendors are releasing software for educational and non-commercial use on
Nova hardware and emulation software. These vendors are to be
commended for their help in preserving the Nova, Eclipse and MV history for
future generations. |
| Finnigan MAT
systems |
New optional features are now
available for reNOVAte/Plus
to run Finnigan MAT IDOS, IDOS II, IDOS III, INCOS and SuperINCOS software

and run IDOS/INCOS/MSDS under open systems. Contact SimuLogics for
further information concerning these exciting new legacy-enhancing features. |
| Custom hardware
access |
A new product is now available to allow
reNOVAte/Plus to
directly access custom user hardware I/O interfaces. Now applications
running on open system PCs may use current custom DG controllers in special
applications without change. Contact SimuLogics for further information
concerning this hardware-enhancing feature. |
| Point 4 archives |
Point 4 corporation has engaged
SimuLogics to archive all remaining Point 4 software and documentation.
This support reflects the official corporate appreciation of the importance
of preserving this part of computing history. Documentation and
software archiving shall occur after the initial inventory and cataloging is
completed, and the Point 4 web pages will be updated accordingly.
The new Point 4 document list is now available
in the Point 4 archive section. |

| Ex-DG employee? |
Did you work for or with Data
General? Then you may be eligible to join the "Grey Eagles" - the
organization for ex-DG folks. |
| Stupid AOS/VS
tricks? |
This clever
web site
will remind you that you are not alone in the AOS/VS universe - even if it
feels that way sometimes. Robert de Mander proves that not all demented DGers
are in North America, and his web site has many great tutorials, hints and
other items worth visiting.. |

dedicated to the MV series, and some
comparison charts are the first items

| DG hardware on
PCs? |
SimuLogics is creating hardware that would allow
reNOVAte
to directly use DG I/O hardware controllers. This would mean that
current legacy custom hardware could be used by PCs to help migrate
applications to more modern hardware. The unprecedented hardware,
maintenance, software and business alternatives this would provide makes
this an extremely interesting project.
More on this early next year... [that's less than
a month away(!)] |
| NADGUG ceases
operation. |
NADGUG - the largest Data
General User's Group - officially dissolved on
October, 2001.

Legacy Nova and
Eclipse programs may now access the files, command line and features of the
underlying supporting operating system with the new Native System Interface
for reNOVAte/Plus. |
| ICOS
II and ICOS III |

DG's MP/OS version
3.1 has how been tested with reNOVAte. |
| TCP/IP
access module |
DG serial interfaces may be now
transparently accessed via TCP/IP lines with this new

to control terminals over any type of network and do other neat
"client/server" stuff. ...All without changing a single byte
of Nova code! |
| Nanos 2.60 |
Nanos 2.60 has how been tested with
reNOVAte.
Both the Nova 4/X and Eclipse S/140 versions of Nanos are now officially
supported. Could DiscOS be far behind? [Thanks, Ira.] |
| MP/AOS |
MP/AOS rev 1.30 and 2.00 have been tested with
reNOVAte.
Yet another under-rated proprietary operating system environment now runs on
open systems.
(Thanks for the support, Dutch.)
