We are scanning and preserving all legacy documentation possible. Some documentation from the vendors whose names are listed on the left has been scanned at either 300 or 600 DPI and saved in .TIFF format, group 4 compression ("fax"). Note that '.TIFF' format was chosen over the popular Adobe '.pdf' format for space-savings reasons, but these .TIFF files may be converted to Postscript or PDF format with various readily-available utilities. In the future we intend to create .pdf files from the .TIFF files. Document titles scanned so far are inventoried in the appropriate areas linked on the left. Other vendor's manuals have been scanned and will be described here when available. Since this is an ongoing (meaning never-ending) project , enhancements to the procedures and techniques for manual preservation are being tested. If and when better procedures are found, all previously-scanned documentation will be redone using the updated techniques. Due to space considerations only the inventory summary is presented in this area - not the manuals themselves - but this too will change as we expand this site's content. |
